COMOX VALLEY, B.C – Comox Valley will be under Stage 2 water restrictions starting Monday.
The water system will be moving to the new restrictions to coincide with BC Hydro’s planned water level reductions in the Puntledge River.
During times of drought, BC Hydro reduces the amount of water it releases into the Puntledge River to protect fish habitat and ensure there is enough water storage available to last the summer and early fall.
Under Stage 2 Water Restrictions, watering days for even-numbered addresses will be on Tuesdays and Saturdays between 6:00am-8:00am and 8:00pm-10:00pm.
Days for odd-numbered addresses will be on Wednesdays and Sundays between 6:00am-8:00am and 8:00pm-10:00pm.
The CVRD says residents should be prepared to move to Stage 3 water restrictions in August should these dry conditions stick around.
The Stage 2 restrictions will apply to Comox, Courtenay, and the former Sandwick, Arden, England Road, Marsden/Camco, Greaves Crescent service areas.
