It’s business as usual for the Quadra Queen II.
But it definitely wasn’t smooth sailing last night for the vessel that runs the Quadra to Cortes route in the summer.
BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall says mechanical issues kept the vessel docked.
“The engine RPMs were not showing on the bridge controls,” she said. “So unfortunately we had to cancel the last round trip of the day as the engineers and the bridge team were troubleshooting the problem.”
Marshall said a technician fixed the issue and everything has been rectified. The ferry was in service this morning.
Marshall said these kinds of sailing cancellations don’t happen very often.
“We do about 500 sailings a day so it is very rare we have to cancel a sailing due to mechanical (issues) but it has happened in the past,” she said.
The 50-year-old vessel carries a maximum of 26 vehicles and 150 passengers and crew.
