There’s some new updates moving forward on the Braidwood Housing Project.
So far, much of the confusion’s lied within the language used in the proposal, with the difference between affordable and supportive housing coming into play.
Affordable housing refers to shelter that doesn’t exceed 30% of household income while supportive housing is basically shelter with employed support on a 24/7 basis.
Courtenay council has now agreed, in principle, of the revised proposal on what to do with the location at 810 Braidwood Road, according to CAO David Allen.
Qualified non-profit groups will submit proposals to develop the space and the Braidwood Housing Project Working Group will then recommend a preferred option to Courtenay Council as soon as possible after the request for proposal closing date of April 28th.
