The North Island 911 Corporation has adopted its 2015 budget.
What the corporation does is provide a service link between residents and emergency responders.
The organization’s made up of 6 regional districts and serves areas from the mid to north end of Vancouver Island and some parts of the mainland, including Powell River.
We spoke with Wendy Byrne, the CVRD’s manager of financial services.
She tells us what most of the $2.3 million budget will be going towards, including their deal with Vancouver-based E-Comm.
She adds that funds will also go towards the fire dispatch operation, which dispatches for approximately 50 fire departments in North Island 911’s catchment area.
That’s contracted with Campbell River’s fire department.
The rest of the budget is meant to maintain the technical support that helps run the corporation’s operations.
