A 22-year-old Campbell River man is going to take a leap of faith and will be hitting the high seas…and he’ll be helping others along the way.
Jesse Spooner’s a student at the University of Victoria and he aspires to be a physician.
He’s now set to join others on the Africa Mercy hospital ship.
Taking part in this means he’s going somewhere where he’s never been before.

He adds it’s a great way to get some much valued experience.
The Africa Mercy is part of Mercy Ships. These hospital ships provide health care and services for communities in need around the world.
Spooner says the ships will be departing for Madagascar on April 26th.
