The Comox Valley RCMP confirms that the suspect in a robbery and stabbing at the Mex Pub Liquor Store is now in custody.
The incident happened around 8:20 pm on September 18th when a man entered the store, approached a cashier, stabbed her and then stole money and cigarettes.
Comox Valley RCMP Staff Sergeant Glen Breckon, says police have been working hard to find the person responsible for the attack and robbery.
“Investigators have been working tirelessly to identify, locate and arrest the suspect. We understand that this incident caused significant concern in the community, and we want to reassure the public that the suspect is now in custody,” said Breckon.
“This is the outcome our investigators strive for when we take on every investigation”, he added.
The RCMP says tips from the public played a major role in finding and identifying the man.
The suspect, a 33-year old Courtenay man, is still in police custody.
