Another section of land has been purchased near Cumberland to help preserve the surrounding forest.
The initiative was led by the Cumberland Community Forest Society, which focuses on the conservation and preservation of forests in the area.
The land, which is 225 acres in size, means since the CCFS was created, over 500 acres of privately owned forest next to Cumberland has been bought for ecological protection and low impact recreation.
It also sits on one of the waterways leading into Comox Lake.
Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird says the Cumberland Community Forest contributes greatly to the quality of life of Village residents and others in the Comox Valley.
A management planning process is in the works and will include addressing historic, current, and future impacts on the landscape.
