The Comox Valley Regional District says the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre will remain closed until at least 2021.
Jennifer Zbinden, Senior Manager of Recreation Services says with the pandemic happening and flu season just around the corner, it just didn’t make sense to try and re-open the center in the near future.
“At this time with so much uncertainty, a difficult decision had to be made regarding the re-opening of the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre,” explains Zbinden.
“With the flu season approaching, Covid cases rising provincially, and the requirement to be fiscally responsible to our residents we are not in a position to re-open the facility in November or December. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this challenging time.”
The district says the gym, arenas and pool will remain open, however.
Available pool programs will include aquacise, rehab swim times, lane swim times, camps and swim lessons.
Those looking to hit the ice will have the option of public skating, drop-in hockey and some camps and lessons.
Reservations are required for all programs.
