The North Island 911 Corporation is going in a new direction for it’s primary call answering service, switching from the RCMP dispatch, to E-Comm, based out of Vancouver.
It’s a deal for the next five years, and Corporation President John Ambler says, 1.7 million dollars of tax payer money is being saved over that time frame, because of the switch.
Ambler also responds to complaints the new center is too far away, in Vancouver.
The North Island 911 Corporation covers six regional districts, including Powell River and the District of Mount Waddington. According to Ambler, that means the Comox Valley will save roughly $112,000 a year.
