A new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station was installed in the Town of Comox on Friday.
The new station is at the Comox Community Centre on Noel Avenue. It was funded by part of a grant from the CleanBC Communities Fund.
The town now oversees four charging stations, with the others at Town Hall, the Comox Centre Mall, and Comox Fire Rescue.
Comox Mayor Nicole Minions says that these stations are available on a first-come basis.
“This supports Council’s commitment to a climate action plan by taking steps to make it easier for residents to choose zero-emission transportation,” said Minions. “These charging stations are in accessible public areas and are available on a first-come basis.”
They’re charging $1.00 for the first two hours of use and then $2.00 for each additional hour.
The announcement comes on the heels of another investment in electric vehicle infrastructure as Cumberland began their installation of EV chargers at their Cultural Centre on Wednesday.
