A colourful mural will be donated on Friday to the Comox Valley Child Development Association.
The association says the Canada Connects Spring Mural Mosaic will be donated through a collaboration with Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots project. The mural has been made by hundreds of artists from across the country and others around the world.
“Each artist’s painting is their own interpretation and insight into the project’s theme of connection,” said the association in a press release. “The overall mural is a representation of how these hundreds of voices are connected, and how when we come together, we can create harmony in one shared experience.”
The three metres by six metres mural is made of 2,000 individually painted tiles. They say some were painted by local community members, board members, program participants and their families along with supporters.
The unveiling will happen at 12:30 p.m. at their downtown Courtenay offices on Third Street. The celebration will include food, music, kids activities and more.
A fundraising court will follow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with all proceeds going to their JumpStart Preschool, the autism program and outdoor play space.
