With the Kelowna fires still raging, Comox Fire Rescue is providing some support.
The department received a call from BC Wildfire Service late Thursday afternoon, with Lt. Brent Kraven saying that they sent an engine with three members to help with the fires at West Kelowna.
Along with the members in Kelowna, he says other members have been deployed to different locations during the summer.
“Comox Fire Rescue also has a structural protection team working out of Kamloops, in the Adams Lake fire area, which has been deployed there since mid-July,” said Craven.
“We have currently three members from Comox Fire, as well as two members from Oyster River on that crew, and we have been rotating crews throughout the summer. This is the first deployment with our engine to the Kelowna area last week.”
With the wildfires affecting several parts of BC and Yellowknife, Craven asks you to be diligent and careful while the situation continues.
