Comox Valley will host a day of learning from one another on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), K’ómoks First Nation, local governments, and community partners are teaming up to celebrate the day on Friday, June 21, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds.
The free family event for the community will include demonstrations, knowledge sharing, environmental walks, presentations, youth activities, food and craft vendors, community tents, and live music.
In a joint statement between the Chief Councillor of K’ómoks First Nation, the Chair of the CRVD, and the mayors of Courtenay, Comox, and Cumberland said they look forward to celebrating at the event.
“We look forward to gathering to learn, share and strengthen our relationships as we celebrate and honour the strength, resilience, and diversity of Indigenous Peoples.”
Organizers for the event are still being looked for to help the day be the best it possibly can be.
